- Sounds of “waaaah waaaah” echoed through the air Friday night during the Motocross competition at the Richland County Fair. Many of the riders have been racing since they were very young or were very young themselves and were not shy in revealing why they really like to race. Kaden Gertsch 5 of Noble won the second heat of the 50cc and under class said his favorite part of the race was “that jump and the bumps!” as he pointed to each of them across the track. Drew Phipps 5 of Carmi who took second place in the 65cc and under class that his favorite part of racing is “the jumping. ” He said he planned to tell his friends that he “had a big crash” at Friday’s race and noted that he will race “‘til I go pro!” .

- Horses took over the Richland County Fair on Sunday during the 4-H Junior and Western horse shows. Despite a mostly cloudy day riders and their steeds took part in many events including Walk and Trot Halter Trail and Pole Bending. The audience was also treated to several racing classes including Barrel Races and the Catalogue Race which involved a horse racing to a barrel and the rider being responsible for finding a predetermined page number in a catalogue. The rider then tore out the page put it in their mouth mounted their horse and raced to the finish line.
