All that water caused major problems for motorist and water rescue crews. Guilford County Sheriff’s department is investigating a drowning of woman who was on her Moped when it went into a creek. The incident happened on McCleansville Road near Hicone Road. A highway patrolman tried to save her.

As much as we would have loved to have gotten that guy in the picture above to email us his shot of him and his back-seat drivers with their 1935 Chevrolet — one of the early “turret tops” with a steel roof — that picture came from GM’s archives.

verlooking the gallery is a pleasantly appointed library its shelves loaded with books on all aspects of photography. When I questioned Steve McNulty the gallery’s manager about observing professional museum standards of proper lighting levels UV protection matting and mounting Steve’s every response was immediate and positive. It will be easy to envision future collaborations between the Canton Museum of Art and the Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography when unique photo exhibition opportunities arise as I am confident they will. Tim I know will dedicate the gallery to exhibitions of only the finest in historic and contemporary photography. We in the arts family welcome him as a partner and as a new exciting attraction of the highest quality destined to enhance Canton’s reputation as a thriving arts community attracting more and more visitors to our city.

Shallow weeds and dark back wter bays with lots of wood hold plenty of fish he said. Spinnerbaits small to medium bucktails and plastics like Delong Killer Eels and Tiger tubes are taking their share of fish. He said anglers are reporting seeing more muskies than ever this year while they’re targeting walleyes and bass.

Everyone breathed a sign of relief as the good weather continued. For the past three years the ceremony was forced inside to the high school gymnasium because of inclement weather or threatening storm clouds. Despite predictions of a late-afternoon thunderstorm the weather was perfect as the 245 members of the graduating class dressed in red and white caps and gowns stepped forward to proudly accept their diplomas — the culmination of fours years of hard work camaraderie and school spirit.
