PHT GALLERY: BioBlitz helps teach about local wildlife

– The Wildlife Society and other area nature lovers recently met in Pertle Springs to take part in BioBlitz. According to National Geographic nline a BioBlitz is a “24-hour event in which teams of scientists volunteers and community members join forces to find identify and learn about as many local plant and animal species as possible. Doing a BioBlitz gives communities a chance to learn about the biological diversity of their parks and helps them understand how to protect both the species and the park as a whole. Children were also able to take part in the collection and release of the animals and took part in many different learning activities. Activities included a Bird Walk a Tree Ring Analysis a Herp Seminar and a Water Cycle project.
