The Gators scored four runs in the ninth to pull within one and had the potential tying run on third base before sophomore Logan Darnell struck out junior Matt den Dekker and had junior pinch hitter Hampton Tignor ground out to second base to end the game and collect his third save. With Preston Tucker?s sacrifice fly in the ninth the freshman broke Brad Wilkerson?s mark of 68 RBI in 1996 for the most RBI by a freshman in school history. The 69 RBI by the slugger are the most by a UF player since current Cleveland Indian right fielder Matt LaPorta had 79 in 2005.

But he said the graduates are the hope for which the world is waiting. Families are losing their homes. Millions have lost their jobs. Hearts are being broken he told the 418 members of the Class of 2009.

The annual Fashion For Life fundraiser benefiting Friendly House (a leading women’s residential drug and alcohol recovery program) honored designer David Meister with the Vision Award for “excellence in red carpet fashion” Sunday evening. A random round up of celebs came out to show their support including Leslie Bibb (you know her from Iron Man) the horsey Melissa Rivers Madeleine Zima from Californication and Charlie Sheen–whom we wager misread the invitation. (h this is for drug recovery?).

Sponsored by the school’s art department Thursday to show the year’s work by students of many ages the annual show included local bands an interactive art room refreshments and large collections of artwork that filled two hallways. Best of all it was free. The Holliston Music and Arts Parents Association provided support and volunteers for the event. Click on the images on the right for a closer look.
