France Diplomatie (press release) – Apr 15, 2008
At a time when the opposition has called for a general strike to continue until the results of the presidential election are published and the police have banned any public demonstrations France once again deplores the fact that these results have still not been announced. It has been 17 days since the vote and we have been told they should be published on April 19. We will see but they should have been published the day of the vote. The SADC summit that met in Lusaka on April 12 called once again for the swift publication of the results.

She is now a happy healthy baby weighing more than 11 pounds. However the time she spent in the hospital with Aubrey by her side was hard on Matt who got the latest updates on the phone and Internet. The couple talked often as much as three times a day at one point and Aubrey posted an extensive photo gallery of Kylie on a Web site so her husband could see his child. While deployed members of the 819th performed construction missions and helped with a variety of other jobs including repairing a badly damaged water-drilling rig in Afghanistan and helping preserve a medical bay believed to be the location where the most American lives were saved and lost during the Iraq war. “While they’ve been deployed the 819th Red Horse has done a myriad of amazing things overseas” Brockhoff said. “The 819th Red Horse Squadron is specifically designed to deploy quickly and enter an area that is barren in its current infrastructure. Afterimage exhibits LIFE

substring(0 thispageresult. After 36 years of operation Afterimage Gallery still shows the works of some of America’s best contemporary photographers and photojournalists. The gallery may be small but the directors are friendly and the organization is wonderful. The setting adds a lot to the gallery’s appeal. The Quadrangle is a business complex located in the Uptown area which also houses several wonderful restaurants and boasts great décor apart from the gallery itself. Currently on exhibition at Afterimage are the works of LIFE magazine photographer John Loengard… As a photographer for LIFE Loengard met many extraordinary people and had many unique opportunities. Among the photographs included in the exhibition are several pictures of famed artist Georgia ‘Keeffe. Although he authored a photo essay of the Southwestern artist several pictures of her were also included in “As I See It” including a stunning portrayal of a very off-centered ‘Keeffe in front of a desert expanse in New Mexico. The picture tears the viewer in two with the distress of determining whether to look at the desert in the background or the aged face of a legend. Also included in the exhibit is an incredible photograph of the portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz precariously perched atop a gargoyle attached to the top of the Chrysler Building in New York City. Although Loengard’s work includes many photographs of other artists whether photograph or otherwise his work at LIFE also included the rare opportunity to photograph some of the biggest celebrities of the 1950s and 1960s. ne assignment took Loengard to Florida where he met and photographed the Beatles during the band’s first trip to the state.
