Mobile Burn – Feb 20, 2008
Also while I can’t officially say what version of Windows Mobile the X1 is running we have seen photos on the net of the X1′s startup screen displaying the moniker “Windows Mobile 6. 1″ – so you can take that for what it’s worth.

The new model features support for more 3G frequency bands which will allow the device to be configured for use in most of the world’s markets including North America. ne of the other cool new features that the 6220 Navigator has is a built-in electronic compass. That might not sound like much until you think about the difficulties one has with navigation software when travelling on foot. The new pedestrian navigation mode that the 6210 Navigator offers makes use of this compass to keep the on-screen map oriented in the correct way at all times.

The KF510 shown in these photos might not posess a full touch screen like the other two devices but it shares the same slider form factor and still has some cool looking animated touch sensitive buttons in place of a normal d-pad control cluster. The KF510 which is targeting younger consumers has animated lights located beneath its touch sensitive d-pad controller area. The lights move around when the d-pad is used as you can see in the left hand photo below. There are no changing icons or other fancy aspects to the buttons but the system works reasonably well for touch sensitive controls is and is at minimum very slick looking thanks to the animated lights. The KF510 we were using in Barcelona worked pretty well for us. I was pleased with the navigation in general and really liked the animated lights – it gave the phone a very distinctive look when it was being used. I expect that it should sell reasonably well when it starts shipping in select European markets next month.
