“The photograph exists as part of the installation as a whole and has been widely published and exhibited throughout the world” writes John on his Web site. “It has been offered for sale at Sotheby’s New York ? and exhibited in Houston London Madrid New York Portugal Warsaw and Zurich without any objections that we are aware of” the singer said in defense of the photograph. But those facts have not deterred authorities who removed the photo after reportedly receiving a complaint from a gallery employee. Police are not only interested in the creator of the image but also the owner of the photograph. “The circumstances around who may have been involved in the production of the image and who may have owned it or owns it forms part of the investigation” said a spokesman for the Northumbria police. Legal observers say the United Kingdom does not have a First Amendment law per se that can protect or shield some forms of artistic expression. But even in the United States the Supreme Court has ruled that images of real children who have been sexually exploited are not shielded by free speech claims.

The keyboard needs some getting used to since as large as they may be even tiny fingers will miss the right keys – just like in the old days of the typewriter – or was that a deliberate Apple move in keeping with the nostalgia of the type writer? The other downside is that you can’t use the keyboard to add new appointments to your calendar on the iPod touch. But what is the iPod of any shape and sort if it weren’t used for music photos and videos ? And it is here that the iPod touch again shows itself off beautifully. Click on the thumbnail of your photo gallery to call up a photo which you can slide through and zoom in to see all the fine details. Turn the iPod touch sideways to view it in landscape. The iTunes application comes with Apple’s latest Cover Flow so you can check the art that goes with the music and again the viewing aspect is up to you. Touch the screen and the virtual buttons to control the music appears. The same goes for watching videos except you can only watch clips in landscape as the iPod touch won’t flip to re-frame in this instance.

The passengers alighting from a fleet of Vespa scooters are models attired in hip fashions from the Redhead Lounge another new boutique. Inside an animated crowd of fashionistas is treated to champagne and blasting music as they settle onto little gilded seats lining the runway. In the past boutiques offered occasional trunk shows — sedate affairs with few surprises.
