js’>”We are tying to set up a museum with all information about the college right from its inception in 1957″ MAMC dean Dr Arun Kumar Aggarwal says. “There will be a photo gallery showcasing its inauguration by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and will also have other nuggets of information that is not known to many. “So between doing their rounds doctors these days are busy sourcing old photographs and portraits from the Nehru Planetarium and National Archives. The preparations had in fact begun last year; even former deans have been contacted and are doing their bit to give shape to the museum. But professors say besides collecting bits and pieces of information the whole process is more about telling the students the story of MAMC its history and its relevance in the world of medical science. “The idea for a museum took shape last year and we are happy that we will be able to give our students information about their college” Dr Daljit Singh a professor of Neurosurgery and MAMC alumni says.

Let’s break it down one at a time. iPhotoLong my favourite component of iLife the new version of iPhoto has among others one new feature that new and existing users will love. A photo library can now be viewed in collections that iPhoto calls Events. These are automatically created when iPhoto ’08 is run for the first time. What iPhoto does is examine the time stamps of images in an existing library and makes the reasonable assumption that a group of photos shot on the same day almost certainly belong together as a single event in time such as would be the case with a series of birthday party photos. What this means is that an unwieldy library comprising thousands of images can be compacted into more easily managed Events. What I found almost instantly when using iPhoto ’08 was that this method of viewing encourages better organisation because it’s easier to name an Event with a meaningful tag than it is to laboriously tag files one by one… In short it’s a killer feature that will make sorting and viewing photos eaiser. Events can be edited too so if iPhoto groups the wrong images into an Event you can split them up just as easily as joining together groups of images into a single event. Making it easy to publish images online is the Web Gallery feature which goes one step further than providing a simple automated picture gallery. Web Gallery offers options to allow other users to upload photos to the page making the gallery a portal for sharing photos and the page presents visitors with view and subscription options. The editing tools have been enhanced and now include a three-point levels adjustment (the previous version had only two-point) and highlights and shadows detail sliders. The upshot of that is it is now easier to correct exposure mistakes. What else? Better printing output options (long overdue) with printed images compiled into an album making it easier to make re-prints; plus new book styles and calendar styles.
