The easiest and so far the best way to do this is by photographing your work. However taking pictures of your paintings or sculptures is harder than most artists might think. In this age of digital cameras anyone can snap a photo so why would you need to have your painting professionally photographed when you can do it in your living room?Elise Poche studio manager of Rick Rhodes Photography has some interesting points to make and offers good advice for artists when photographing their works. “People who buy art often consider their purchase an investment counting on the fact that the work will appreciate” Poche said. “The artists themselves spend so much time creating these works but very often they skimp on getting it photographed properly; the work sells and they then no longer have anything that accurately represents the work. ” Poche adds that she believes artists should feel proud of their work and have any photos retain as much of its original beauty as possible. “Many people really don’t understand that photographing artwork is very mathematical and does require professional equipment to do it properly… rickrhodesphotography.
