Photo Gallery: New World’s ldest Gunshot Victim Found?

nationalgeographic. The find discovered recently in an Inca cemetery near Lima Peru was the victim of a Spanish musket according to a detailed analysis. That makes the skeleton the oldest documented gunshot victim in the New World and possibly the first person in the Americas ever to have been killed with a firearm experts say. National Geographic grantee Guillermo Cock led the team that uncovered the remains. It is one of 72 skeletons hastily buried at the site without the usual Inca reverence for death.

He came under scrutiny after his car was impounded during a burglary arrest in the Lower Yakima Valley. A towing-company worker opened the glove box June 11 to look for registration papers and found a digital camera. Thinking the camera might have been stolen investigators turned it on said Deputy Ed Campbell and found a large and detailed photo gallery of the man spray-painting graffiti on buildings many of them identifiable. Deputies then obtained a search warrant for his home in Union Gap and seized a large amount of graffiti paraphernalia as well as a camcorder with video of him spray-painting his “tag” or graffiti signature. If the scene had been captured by an artist rather than a long-lensed sports hack it would have been called a tableau vivant and installed in the National Portrait Gallery. Posh and Tom Cruise and his latest wife Katie Holmes stand in a line all three made conspicuous by their shades. Becks’ sister Joanne and his mum Sandra are also in the picture – you can tell they are not really famous because they are not wearing sunglasses at night. The Beckham boys are present but only Cruz (no not Tom not Penelope but the Beckhams’ youngest – keep up) cradled in Mum’s arms and Romeo grinning for England and nestling into Granny are in shot. The photo is a captured moment but at the same time it is brilliantly stage-managed… Becks’ sister Joanne and his mum Sandra are also in the picture – you can tell they are not really famous because they are not wearing sunglasses at night. So much is fake or contrived from the dazzling array of blond highlights to Posh’s boobs rising like perfectly formed silicone half-moons out of a tight black dress. The mini-Beckhams are in Real Madrid kits No23 like Dad and have identikit cropped haircuts. They even appear to possess rather worryingly identikit sideburns. The image is a statement.
