A search bar at the Start menu gives you extremely fast results to say your Hokkaido holiday pictures or favourite songs from The Smiths. Before you can finish typing ‘Hokkaido’ chances are a list of pictures would already have appeared. To make sure you remember your photos you can tag them – say ‘Hokkaido’ – and even add a caption easily using Windows Photo Gallery. Do a search within this nifty photo viewer software and all the Hokkaido pictures stored on the PC will pop up in a jiffy. You won’t have to waste time organising pictures into individual folders. Security is another area touted as a big step up. Like Mac and Linux systems Vista now requires administrator rights to access critical files and settings which makes it harder for hackers to break into a PC.
